Dear BAMf: Episode 2 with Sarah King

Written by BAM Team | June 11, 2020 at 6:54 PM

Dear BAMf // Episode 2: Sarah King of Flywire tackles challenges with media ethics, client communication barriers, and internal communications during #COVID19.

This week’s episode of Dear BAMf was a doozie. We tackled everything from mentally coping during COVID-19, to managing PR backlash from layoffs. Our guest host Sarah King, Director of Global Communications and Brand at Flywire, handled each question like a total BAMf,  including this cringe-worthy one:

Dear BAMf,

It's becoming clear my CEO/client wants to stretch the truth to make his company look better — fabricating data and signed customers. Showing potential for future growth is fine, but flat out lying isn't okay. He's asking me to communicate with the media in ways I find unethical and that will jeopardize my relationship, as well as the company's reputation. He's putting a lot of pressure on me. How should I approach this?

Sarah also explained how to build “friction-free relationships” with clients, discussed the value of showing vulnerability during a crisis, and justified why you should be over-prepared when you have to deliver hard news. You can hear her drop all that knowledge in the full episode here:
